Arbeitsplatz is a portable archive and an idea-finding machine. In three revolving wooden drums lined up alongside one another, idea-material can be collected and displayed in the transparent covers. Each drum is made up of eight compartments, the individual forms of which are inspired by a medieval reading wheel. While the combination of the three individually rotating drums descends from the principle of the “one armed bandit,” or slotmachine. The merger of pre-modern and contemporary techniques leads to a creative serviceable object which through use continuously brings forth newly inspired rows of combinations, thereby setting archived materials into new associative relationships. In mathematics, these processes would be termed permutations, meaning that new results can be arrived at through the exchange of different extant elements. (Katja Reich)

Die drei Trommel - Gestell - Einheiten verfügen jeweils über eine Arbeitsfläche aus Glas sowie eine drehbare Trommel mit acht Gefachen.

Letztere können mit flächigem Material gefüllt, hervorzuhebene oder strukturgebende Blätter hinter Plexiglas im Deckel ausgestellt werden.

Einem mittelalterlichen Leserad vergleichbar werden die zusammengestellten Trommeln gedreht, bis sich nach dem Prinzip eines Einarmigen Banditen inspirierende Kombinationsreihen ergeben.
