Das Ende des 21. Jahrhunderts bezieht sich
auf die fast gleichnamige Arbeit "Das Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts"
von Joseph Beuys, die 1983 entstand.
Wie auch bei Beuys werden mumien- oder sarkophagartige
Gesteinsformationen mit einem Hubwagen und einer Brechstange gruppiert.
Die Ausgangsform bezieht sich bei Kaldens Arbeit, anders als das Orginal,
auf das Rednerpult des amerikanischen Präsidenten und ist als Betonguss
ausgeführt. Die Arbeit hat eine maximale Größe von 700
x 700 mm.
The end of the 21st. Century refers to
the work "The end of the 20th. Century " by Joseph Beuys, which
was created in 1983. The model consists of concrete casted blocks resembling
sarcophagus. The initial shape of the blocks however differ in Kalden’s
work from the original, as their shape resemble the lectern of the president
of the United States. Through the sculptural stylisation, the original
function of the lectern is reversed.
