ie NEAR EAST SIDE GALLERY bezieht sich auf ein Teilstück der israelischen Mauer, die weit in die besetzten Gebiete der Westbank hinenreicht und diese annektiert. Das Modell besteht aus Beton und ist mit einem farbigen Ausschnitt der Mauerbemalung der East-Side-Gallery in Berlin versehen. Hierbei steht die physische und bildliche Vergleichbarkeit beider Bauwerke bzw. der visuelle Protest, der sich u.a. in Form von Graffities ablesen lässt, im Vordergrund. Symbole und Bilder einer überkommenen Idee von Teilung werden übertragen auf eine neue, aktuelle Situation von Separation und Segregation.
Die touristische Qualität der East-Side-Gallery in Berlin wird in ihrer Gestaltung und heutigen Funktionslosigkeit als Hoffnung begriffen. Sie dient als Projektionsfläche für die Zukunft der Mauer, die derzeit in Israel/Palästina gebaut wird.

The NEAR EAST SIDE GALLERY refers to a section of the Israeli wall, which cuts deep into the occupied territories and annexes and divides the land. The model consists of concrete and is provided with a colored cutouts of painting of the „East Side Gallery“ in Berlin. I focused on the physical and figurative comparability of both constructions and on the visual protest that is involved. Symbols and pictures of
a traditional idea of division are transferred to a new current situation of separation and segregation.
The touristic quality of the „East-Side-Gallery“ in Berlin is understood in its uselessness as hope. It serves as a projection into the future of the wall, which is presently built in Israel/Palestine.
